Every now and then, I decide to write a travel article. The first one was in 2010 from Amasra, a small cute town on the Black Sea Coast of Turkey. And then I did write only on my diaries. But then a time came, with my beloved partner, when I made the most incredible trip of my life, to the National Parks of the United States, I decided to write again. And it gave birth to this article. Since then I am writing short trip memoirs that I publish on my page here.
Also, in Travelling Diary you can find the GPX files from my hikes mostly in Switzerland. Although I did lots of hikes in my life, almost every month, since the end of high school, I started to use the smartphone and tracking technology in only 2015. So my recorded hikes are pretty limited until today 2017. But I bet you will see hundreds of them appearing here in the next couple of years 🙂 I hope they will be inspiring for some out there.
Favorite traveling quotes:
“I learned one thing. Never to go on trips with anyone you do not love.”
“A Moveable Feast”, Ernest Hemingway
“For mine is a generation that circles the globe and searches for something we haven’t tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It’s probably worth it.”
“The Beach”, Alex Garland
“I can’t think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. Suddenly you are five years old again. You can’t read anything, you have only the most rudimentary sense of how things work, you can’t even reliably cross a street without endangering your life. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses.”
“Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe”, Bill Bryson
